Robert specialises in civil and commercial law, debt administration and recovery, as well as the representation of clients in judicial, arbitral and administrative proceedings. He recently successfully represented a client (a company) in proceedings to quash a liquidation order that was unlawfully handed down by a court in one of the first cases of this sort to be heard under the new Civil Code.
From 2007 to 2010, Robert worked for Squire Sanders & Dempsey (now Squire Patton Boggs) after winning the inaugural year of the Legal Writing Competition for young legal talents organised by that international law firm. During his stint at Squire Sanders & Dempsey, he was involved in numerous legal due diligence projects in the gaming, automotive, real estate, investment financing and telecommunications sectors. Robert assisted with legal consultations for a major tyre manufacturer in the field of Czech corporate law, and for a major pharmaceutical producer in healthcare law and advertising. Robert also participated in representing clients in an investment arbitration case. In particular, he was a member of the team successfully representing the state in arbitration proceedings brought against a German developer claiming EUR 73 million in damages. Since joining MELKUS KEJLA & PARTNERS, Robert has provided legal advice to ALD Automotive s.r.o. (a leading lease company) and Česká Telekomunikační Infrastruktura a.s., which owns and operates the largest telecommunications network, covering all of the Czech Republic. He has also successfully represented both these clients in a number of cases involving litigation and arbitration.
